Musical Director

Anne Tortora

If there was one positive to be found during the COVID-19 pandemic for Anne, it was discovering the sisterhood of Valley Shore Acappella and the chance to wrap herself up in the joys of barbershop choral music. Anne is a veteran music educator who earned her undergraduate degrees from UConn, the Master of Music Education from The Hartt School, a doctorate from Creighton University, and was honored to have the opportunity to study conducting at the Canford School of Music in Sherborne, England.  A firm believer that we should all be lifelong learners, she is currently working at completing the Certified Director program offered by SAI. Over the years, her choruses, wind bands, and jazz ensembles have earned superior ratings throughout North America. When she isn’t directing musical theatre, making, teaching, listening to or talking about music, Anne enjoys photography (especially out in Provincetown, MA), gardening, ballroom dancing, and crocheting. She is happily married to her high school prom date, Michael, the mother of three wonderful sons, and “Nana” to her three amazing (and quite musical) granddaughters.
