About Valley Shore Acappella

Who We Are

Valley Shore Acappella is a women's ensemble that rehearses weekly to sing, perform, socialize and learn about vocal production and barbershop harmony. Originating in 1977, the chorus became popular around the state, entertaining a wide variety of audiences with its unique blend of barbershop harmony.

Performance

Our goal is to sing! We love performing for everyone and anyone, and our ringing barbershop chords can be heard at many locations/events around the state, including the Ivoryton Illuminations, the Niantic Holiday Stroll, and the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.  Need entertainment for your next event? Consider the Valley Shore Acappella for your upcoming function. The ensemble has performed at local fairs and festivals, weddings, private parties, corporate banquets, business gatherings, fraternal organization meetings, retirement homes and senior centers, hospitals, schools, restaurants and malls. Contact Carolyn Douglas for more information (email:  foryourpaws@gmail.com or 203-213-7297).

Education

In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of a cappella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of rehearsals, and a very important component of the ensemble experience. On occasion, we will get coaching from a visiting master in the art of barbershop, where we learn many fabulous tricks of the trade.
